Blankie Tails Drop Off

Amazon Toy and Activity Drive

During COVID-19, Wings for Ewing Sarcoma set up an Amazon Wish list to send toys and activities to a NY hospital, as well as to patients around the country. Patients already deal with a great amount of isolation while undergoing chemotherapy and cancer treatment, and coronavirus guidelines brought about an even greater sense of seclusion. With a no visitors policy, patients relied on activities and games to keep them occupied during an already difficult time. With organizations not allowed to visit hospitals and a decrease in donations due to COVID, our organization decided to do a drive that collected over 200 donations of toys and activities. Thanks to our generous supporters, we were able to provide various smiles throughout the United States.

We were so excited to be able to drop off fun mermaid tail and rocket ship blankets to the pediatric cancer center at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and put some smiles on the little kids faces. It is so rewarding to see their little faces light up and make their day a little bit brighter with a fun distraction. Thank you to our corporate sponsor Blankie Tails for making this possible and donating the blankets to us.

During treatment, starting with my biopsy, I used to love wearing fun and crazy socks to the hospital. My nurses and doctors always commented on them and it felt like it brightened up my day a little bit. It helped me get out of the normal hospital attire, with the gray gown and gray socks. I wanted to bring this same excitement to children at various hospitals and was happy to have teamed up with the Socky Sock Company. 200 pairs of donated socks were given to our foundation for pediatric oncology patients.

While we were able to provide some of these fun socks within activity packages sent to various kids, we have to wait in handing them out fully, due to COVID-19. We will be delivering these socks in person once guidelines allow for it. We were happy to have provided a few smiles to certain pediatric oncology patients and can't wait for the many more that are to come. Thanks again to @sockysockbrand for your generous donation! The kids will love them.
